Eye Care Clinic was founded in 1993 by Mt Elizabeth Consultant Ophthalmologist Dr Tony Ho to provide advanced quality private specialist eye care for Singaporeans and foreign patients from the region and around the world. The clinic is now well-established and is a recognized trusted name in Singapore private eye-care. Dr Ho’s views and opinions are frequently sought by the news and media. Indeed Eye Care Clinic has to date treated over 20,000 patients and seen over 100,000 patients’ visits.
About Dr Tony Ho
Dr Tony Ho MBBS, FRCS (Glasgow), FRCOphth (U.K.), FAMS is a senior consultant eye surgeon with special interests in cataract and refractive surgery, childhood myopia control and retinal diseases.
He is an elected Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and recipient of the prestigious Singapore Public Service Commission Merit Scholarship. Dr Ho completed his medical degree and eye specialist training in Singapore.
Following this, three years were spent in higher specialist training in three renowned centres around the world namely the Tennant Eye Institute of Glasgow,Scotland, the Moorfields Eye Hospital of London, U.K. and the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute of Florida, United States where Dr Ho obtained further specialist and sub-specialist certifications.
Dr Ho is a leading pioneer in providing Epi-LASIK as an alternative to LASIK, as well as a primary choice for safer refractive surgery. Despite overwhelming popularity for the LASIK procedure, Dr Ho went a step further to introduce Epi-LASIK into his practice 3 years ago.
Dr Ho has presented papers on Epi-LASIK, describing his findings on the patients that he had treated. His advocating of Epi-LASIK has led to more consumers discovering the exceptional qualities of the procedure over traditional methods.
Over these 15 years, Eye Care Clinic has been kept busy by patients who see Dr Ho for all variety of eye problems. Apart from Refractive Surgery, Dr Ho treats eye diseases such as glaucoma, age-related macula degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, myopia progression, and others.
About Yap Eng Yiat
Dr Yap Eng Yiat graduated MBBS in 1983 from the National University of Singapore. He further graduated FRCS (Edinburgh) in 1988 and FRCOphth (UK) in 1989. The Ministry of Health sent Dr Yap on a Higher Manpower Development Plan program from 1991 to 1992 to the Mayo Clinic in the United States of America for training in the subspecialty field of retina (Dr Yap had in 1986 obtained ECFMG certification for training in the USA).
Dr Yap underwent a refresher Higher Manpower Development Plan training program in 2001 in Australia. He was attached to the Melbourne Excimer Laser Group to update on refractive surgery as well as the Victoria Eye and Ear Singapore to update on retina.
Dr Yap is a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He has published over 30 scientific papers spanning the fields of retina, paediatric ophthalmology, cataract, refractive surgery and neuro-ophthalmology. Besides the above, Dr Yap, has also had attachments to the Wills Eye Hosptal in USA for retina and paediatric ophthalmology / squint, the Private Eye Clinic in Australia for paediatric ophthalmology / squint and the Mayo Clinic in the USA for paediatric ophthalmology / squint as well as oculoplastics.
